# What's new in NativePal 2.11: create your own lessons

> Create your own reading, vocabulary, teleprompter and scenario lessons on any topic, at your level, plus a Latin-letter reading aid on the teleprompter.

By Darja Orlova, October 2026 (versions 2.11.0).

Two weeks after alphabet lessons, version 2.11 is out. Until now every lesson in NativePal was about a topic we picked: a story about a train station, the words for a visit to the doctor, a script about your weekend. They were good topics, but they were ours. Version 2.11 lets you make your own.

It also helps with the step after the alphabet: speaking a language whose script you can't read yet. Below is what is new, and what it does not do.

## Lessons about anything you like

At the top of the Reading, Vocabulary, Teleprompter and Scenarios lists there is now a Create your own tile. Describe what you want and NativePal writes the lesson at your level: a diary of your first week in Lisbon, the words you need to rent a flat, a toast for your sister's wedding, a conversation with a landlord about a broken boiler.

Each form asks for a little more where it helps. Stories let you pick the kind of text, the tone and the hero, who can be you. Vocabulary lessons put your own words and idioms first. The teleprompter takes your notes or a draft, in any language, and asks who will be listening. Scenarios have let you write your own since 2.0; now they use the same form, and any scenario in the list can be changed with Make it my own.

## Surprise me, and lessons that carry on

If you open the form with no idea, Surprise me fills it with one, in your own language, and leaves anything you typed alone. Switch on Realistic ideas only if you want everyday situations rather than fairy tales.

Every lesson you create is kept in Made by you, at the top of its list. A story continues with Next chapter and the same characters, a vocabulary lesson gives you Next words on the same topic, a script can be rewritten or read again, and a scenario starts a new chat.

## New lists for every lesson type

The Reading, Vocabulary, Teleprompter and Scenarios lists were rebuilt around one design. Topics sit in sections you scroll sideways, the cards are written in your own language, and Reading, Teleprompter and Scenarios have a level chip at the top, so you can take any topic at any level, starting from your own. The teleprompter now also asks how long you want to speak: about 30 seconds, a minute or two minutes.

## Read a script you can't read yet

Learners asked for this one. On the teleprompter, tap Reading aid and every sentence gets a line underneath in Latin letters, or in kana for Japanese. It covers the 21 languages NativePal teaches that are not written in the Latin alphabet, with the spellings learners already know: Hepburn romaji for Japanese, pinyin with tone marks for Chinese, Revised Romanization for Korean, the stressed vowel marked for Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian and Bulgarian, and tones for Thai.

The script itself stays as it is, and your take is still scored against it, so the aid helps you say the sentence without changing what you practise. Below the advanced levels, if your own language uses a different script, the feedback after a take also adds the Latin reading after any word it quotes. The reading aid stays off until you switch it on.

## Hear it before you say it

Select words in a chat reply, a reading story, a teleprompter script or your daily challenge feedback, and tap Listen to hear them read by your phone's own voice. With the reading aid on, every line of a script has a speaker too. And the teleprompter has a new Very slow speed, for the first scripts in a new language.

## Smaller things

You can now type a word into your dictionary, in the language you are learning or in your own: type apple into a Spanish dictionary and it saves manzana. In reading lessons you can save a whole phrase, not only single words. Lessons and replies the AI writes have a Report button, in case something it wrote is wrong or out of place. And during a scenario, Show scenario reminds you who you are talking to and what you are trying to do.

## What it does not do

NativePal writes each lesson from your description; it cannot import an article, a book or a video. And Listen uses your phone's own voice, so it works in the languages your phone has a voice for.

## In short

- Version 2.11 is out on the App Store and Google Play.
- New: create your own lessons. Describe a topic, a situation or the words you need, and NativePal writes a reading story, a vocabulary lesson, a teleprompter script or a role-play at your level.
- Surprise me suggests an idea; Made by you keeps your lessons, with next chapters, next words and new chats.
- Teleprompter: a reading aid shows each sentence in Latin letters, or kana for Japanese, in the 21 languages not written in the Latin alphabet.
- Select words in a chat, a story or a script and tap Listen to hear them; the teleprompter has a new Very slow speed.

## FAQ

### Can I create my own lessons in NativePal?

Yes. Since version 2.11 (October 2026), you can describe a topic, a situation or the words you need, and NativePal writes a reading story, a vocabulary lesson, a teleprompter script or a role-play at your level, in any of its 57 languages.

### Can NativePal show Japanese, Chinese or Russian in Latin letters?

Yes, on the teleprompter. Since version 2.11, a reading aid adds a line under each sentence in Latin letters, or in kana for Japanese, for the 21 languages NativePal teaches that are not written in the Latin alphabet. Your pronunciation is still scored on the original script.

### Does the reading aid change how my pronunciation is scored?

No. The script itself stays in the original writing system and your take is scored against it; the reading aid only adds a line under each sentence to help you say it.

### Is NativePal still being updated?

Yes. Version 2.11 shipped in October 2026, two weeks after 2.10 brought alphabet lessons. The release history on the What's new page lists every release back to the launch in February 2024.
