At JLPT N3 you can typically do the following:
Reaching JLPT N3 from a standing start typically takes 950-1,700 hours, or 700-1,100 with a kanji-using background.
A learner at this level generally has an active vocabulary of About 3,000-3,750 words and 600-650 kanji (widely cited estimate; N3 has no pre-2010 predecessor).
